US-Mexican Relations
1912-1920
Keywords:
United States, Mexico, Madero, Carranza, Mexican laborAbstract
The United States suffered from political instability in its relations with Mexico during the period from 1912 to 1920. This was due to the chaos and internal unrest that Mexico witnessed. Relations between the two sides were strained under the governments of Madero and Huerta. The year 1915 witnessed the development of US-Mexican relations under the Carranza government. The outbreak of World War I also contributed to the development of relations between the two sides through the influx of Mexican workers who worked in the United States. The year 1920 witnessed the latter abandoning its ally Carranza due to his decisions that affected the economic interests of the United States.
