This research presents an analytical study of the structural development of administration and governance in ancient Egypt, as one of the most prominent manifestations of political reform that contributed to building the Egyptian state and consolidating its continuity. The research seeks to trace the course of political and administrative reforms from the foundational stage in the Old Kingdom era (2686–2181 BCE) to the peak of administrative and political maturity in the Middle Kingdom era (2055–1650 BCE).
The research adopts an inductive approach to the dialectical relationship between the movement of political and administrative reform on the one hand, and the degree of internal stability and state effectiveness on the other. The study concludes that the effectiveness and viability of political and administrative reforms constituted an important factor in determining the course of the Egyptian state's strength or weakness, such that the erosion of the central system inevitably led to periods of decline and chaos, while the re-establishment of this central system represented the fundamental base from which every subsequent civilizational renaissance launched
