The Baghdad Museum is one of the most prominent historical and archaeological landmarks in the heart of Baghdad. The idea for its establishment arose after Baghdad Mayor Midhat al-Hajj Sari visited Iran and saw a wax museum there، which impressed him greatly. He desired to establish similar archaeological museums in Iraq، and upon his return، he implemented the idea، which became a reality in 1970.
The Baghdad Museum features storytelling puppets that meticulously recount the lives of Baghdad's inhabitants and detail their professions and crafts.
The importance of this research lies in highlighting the importance of preserving Iraq's contemporary heritage.
Research objectives:
- Protecting antiquities is paramount in preserving the nation's identity and heritage.
- Exploring mechanisms and methods for rehabilitating the museum in a modern and aesthetically pleasing manner that preserves its historical significance.
The research problem: This research attempts to address the following issues:
- Examining the role of government institutions responsible for museums and their methods of protecting the site's antiquities.
- The ongoing restoration of archaeological sites protects heritage from deterioration.
The research was divided into three sections: The first section dealt with the historical background of the establishment of the Baghdad Museum in 1968، the second section dealt with the contents of the Baghdad Museum، citing a number of pictures that tell us about the details of the museum، and the third section traced the methods and means of restoring and rehabilitating the Baghdad Museum. In the conclusion، I reached the most important conclusions that I dealt with in the research. I used many sources that dealt with the topic.
