Mazdakism is a religious and intellectual movement that emerged in Persia (present-day Iran) during the 5th century AD، adopting extreme social and economic principles. It had a significant impact on culture and social life during the reign of the Sassanian dynasty in Iran. Mazdakism was characterized by its belief in social and economic equality among people، and its socialist ideology based on equal distribution of wealth and the abolition of private property. It also called for asceticism in worldly life and encouraged living a simple and humble life. Mazdakism sparked widespread controversy in Persia، gaining support from some poor and working-class groups، while being opposed by ruling and aristocratic classes. The movement ended a few years after its emergence due to the suppression it suffered from the Sassanian government.
