This study examines the dialectic of center and margin in modern Arabic poetry through the lens of Critical Discourse Analysis as developed by Norman Fairclough. It seeks to uncover the linguistic and semantic mechanisms through which power is reproduced or contested within the poetic text. The research proceeds from the assumption that modern poetry does not merely represent the tension between center and margin, but actively reconstructs it through discursive strategies that deconstruct dominant structures and grant voice to marginalized subjects. The study adopts an analytical approach grounded in Fairclough’s three-dimensional model: textual analysis, examination of discursive practices, and interpretation of the broader social and cultural contexts that shape and are shaped by the text. The findings reveal that modern poetic discourse employs linguistic deviation, the reconfiguration of pronouns, and the intensification of collective symbols as strategic tools for redistributing meaning. Such mechanisms contribute to displacing the center from its singular position and opening space for alternative representations of identity, authority, and memory. The study concludes that the center–margin dialectic in modern poetry is not a fixed binary, but a dynamic process continuously renegotiated within the discursive structure of the text.
